This Opportunity WSP is currently seeking a CBTC Systems Engineer to join our Transit and Rail / Systems Engineering team in our New York Office located at MTA Headquarters. The CBTC Systems Engineer will support the review, coordination, and technical development of CBTC design and system integration activities. This role contributes to ensuring that supplier and designer system architectures, interface definitions, and design deliverables align with contract requirements, operational needs, and applicable industry standards. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of CBTC hardware and software architectures, including vital and non-vital systems, along with hands-on systems engineering experience supporting design development, requirements traceability, and system integration across project phases. Your Impact: • Support CBTC design and implementation activities by contributing technical reviews and engineering input aligned with Authority requirements, project standards, and best practices. • Participate in the evaluation of CBTC system architectures, including vital and non-vital software, interlocking logic, ATS, telecommunications, OCC systems, and train-borne equipment. • Assist with requirements traceability, allocation, and validation across subsystems and interface control points. • Review supplier and designer technical deliverables for completeness, consistency, and compliance with CENELEC (EN 50126/50128/50129), IEEE 1474, and applicable FTA guidance. • Identify and document system-level design impacts, interface dependencies, and integration considerations. • Coordinate with operations, safety, and maintenance stakeholders to help ensure designs support operational efficiency, maintainability, and interoperability. • Support development and review of System Integration Plans, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and verification and validation documentation. • Contribute to system assurance activities, including RAMS and certification-related technical documentation. • Support compliance assessments related to Interface Interoperability Specification (I2S) and CBTC migration strategies. • Assist with coordination between design, testing & commissioning, and safety certification activities to support progression from design through validation. • Track technical issues, design maturity, and configuration changes, and support reporting of system readiness milestones. Who You Are: Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. • 10 years of post-education experience in engineering, including transit and rail systems.• Additional years of experience considered in lieu of degree.
