WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Distribution Electrical Designer for our Baltimore, MD office. The following location will also be considered: Foxboro, MA. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Distribution Boston Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges. This Opportunity The Early Career Distribution Electrical Designer will support overhead and underground electric distribution projects across the Mid Atlantic Region. This role is ideal for early career professionals looking to develop technical design skills while working under the guidance of senior designers and engineers on real world utility projects. Your Impact • Assist with the preparation of design drawings and layouts for overhead and underground electric distribution systems (4kV–35kV). • Develop construction drawings and design packages using AutoCAD Electrical and related CADD tools. • Apply established utility standards and engineering direction to produce accurate, buildable designs. • Support design-level quality control efforts and address review comments under supervision. • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field staff to support project execution. • Assist with design revisions and clarifications during permitting and construction phases. • Adhere to WSP safety, quality, and professional standards. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are Required Qualifications • Associate’s degree in electrical design, engineering technology, or a related field. • 0–3 years of electrical or utility-related design experience (internship or co-op experience acceptable). • Basic knowledge of electrical distribution systems or construction practices. • Working familiarity with AutoCAD or CADD platforms. • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: • Exposure to electric utility distribution projects. • Interest in pursuing professional growth within power and energy design. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $53,800-$68,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
