Early Career Transportation Civil Engineer

This Opportunity WSP is looking for a full-time, **Early Career Civil Transportation Engineer **for our Albuquerque office. Tasks may include assistance with research, concept development, design, and construction of transportation civil infrastructure.

Your Impact • Assist and support design teams in the execution of project delivery • Provide technical input during various stages of projects, including preliminary design, final design, construction and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications • Perform basic design tasks and drawings using computer-aided design (CADD) to develop conceptual transportation projects in AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads • Perform standard computations and analysis • Discuss and propose solutions to technical issues • Collect data and gather information or documents • Bring fresh ideas and innovative ways to solve problems • Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members • Develop memorandums and other written technical documents • Maintain positive team relationships and contribute to a collaborative culture • Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines (i.e. drainage, structures) as required • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are Required Qualifications** • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline. • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience. • Engineer in Training Certification (or ability to obtain one in 6 months). • Great interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others. • Self-starter with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. • Desire to learn and develop skill set. • Passion for improving transportation systems. • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. • Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, technology, and tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams. • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. • Uphold workplace safety and abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, OpenRoads). • Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline. • A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.
