Experienced P&C Field Services Technician

WSP is currently initiating a search for a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician based in Wisconsin or Minnesota. Successful applicants will be involved in projects with our PTE Team and be a part of a growing organization that is solving problems and supporting client needs in electrical testing and commissioning in utility substations, industrial, and bulk electrical power systems.
This Opportunity • Supports a wide range of testing and commissioning activities through application of client testing standards, industry standards (IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NESC), and manufacturer recommendations • Works under limited supervision, independently executing moderately complex assignments, and contributing to regulatory compliance, safety adherence, and data integrity across active job sites • Provides day-to-day support to field teams, helps resolve challenges on-site, and mentors junior technicians to promote quality, efficiency, and safe work practices • As one of the world’s leading professional services firms, WSP now brings world-class expertise in power delivery, power generation, and project management with the recent acquisition of POWER Engineers, Inc. Your Impact • Perform assigned testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations • Perform on-site hands-on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150. Examples of relays to be tested are SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60 among others • Use field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications to document site activities • Perform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directed • Support the Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects • Escalate complex technical problems or unexpected field conditions to the site lead or project manager • Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols Communicate progress, field observations, and potential delays to the project team • May review the work of less experienced technicians for quality and accuracy, providing informal guidance as needed • Maintain attention to detail when filling out logs, photo documentation, and label entries Collaborate with other technicians to maintain workflow, safety, and quality standards • Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and activities and report observations to field leadership • Perform clerical responsibilities such as timecards, expense reports, and project reports • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
