This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for On-Call Emergency Managers – Safety. Since the actual work location will be the deployment site(s), these positions have the potential to report out of any WSP USA office, which could include Boston, MA; Jacksonville, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Orlando, FL; Tampa, FL; Miami, FL; Birmingham, AL; New Orleans, LA; Raleigh, NC; Columbia, SC; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX. Emergency management cadre positions are on-call and assignments are on an as-needed basis. Cadre members are not eligible for benefits. Cadre members are asked for a 30 day commitment; availability to deploy with little to no advance notice (typically within 24-48 hours); and during deployments, ability to potentially work 8-12 hours/day; 7 days/week. Your Impact • Lead Emergency Management team, providing services to clients preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters nationwide and in US territories. • Manage Emergency Operations Center and/or Field Staging Area operations prior to, during, and post-disaster. • Responsible for ensuring that worksites are safe for workers and comply with applicable regulations. • Attend periodic training throughout the year to maintain deployment eligibility. • Support Emergency Management Project Management functions. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Emergency Management, Public Administration, or similar/related concentration, or equivalent. • Minimum of 5-7 years in a Safety or Emergency Management Leadership role (Response, Recovery or related), or equivalent. • Minimum of 5 years of cumulative safety experience, within the last 10 years, managing or implementing a SOH program on projects similar in industry type, size, and complexity as the project described in the contract scope of work. • 24 hours of documented formal classroom or online SOH-related training within the past 5 years and must maintain competency by taking 8 hours every year for the duration of the contract. • Broad knowledge of Safety and Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques. OSHA 30 Construction, General Industry or higher OSHA certification (DOL Wallet Card Required after 90 Days of Course Completion). • Intermediate computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and mobile applications. • Travel Required - Must be able to deploy to disaster area, with little or no advance notice (typically within 24-48 hours) and potentially for long durations. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
