This Opportunity WSP is initiating a search for On-Call Senior Transit Inspectors to provide technical support and hands-on inspections of transit vehicles, including buses and equipment as required. Join our National Fleet Facilities team and play a vital role in inspecting and assessing overall vehicle condition to ensure compliance with contract and manufacturer standards, as well as meeting client expectations. These positions are part-time only and suitable for candidates seeking on-call work. You may be based in Lansing, MI; Livermore, CA; Anniston, AL; Washington, DC; or other locations considered nationwide. Your Impact • Review the workforce readiness and certifications of staff completing the rehabilitation or repair work. • Physically inspect all work completed by the repair technicians and record all data using handwritten notes and images. • Perform and observe specific component and functionality tests using common and specialised tools (e.g., brake tester, depth gauge). • Conduct daily, repetitive monitoring and inspections of all components and vehicles throughout the rehabilitation process. • Compile data and images obtained during the inspection process and submit these as required - daily, weekly, or at project completion, using approved forms and reporting tools. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are Required Qualifications • High School Diploma. • 10+ years of relevant maintenance technician experience in the transit or heavy-duty industry. • Strong knowledge of bus manufacturing, repair, and maintenance requirements. • Experience planning and conducting inspections, investigations, and contract compliance audits for bus rehabilitation projects. • Strict adherence to QA/QC standards; proficiency with technology, spreadsheets, and tools. • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • Flexible schedule, including extended hours and occasional travel as needed. • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in semi-confined spaces; stand or kneel for long periods. • Capable of remote work on short notice and participation in both short- and long-term projects. • Skilled in performing and recording DOT brake and air system tests, tire depths, and fluid analysis. • Comprehensive knowledge of major vehicle systems: engine, transmission, lighting, electrical, HVAC, brakes, suspension, air systems, fire suppression, and ADA compliance.
