This Opportunity Energy Advisory Services (EAS) – Advanced Grid Technologies & National Transmission Strategies WSP is seeking a Senior Advisor to join our Advanced Grid Technologies and National Transmission Strategies group within the Energy Advisory Services (EAS) business unit. This role focuses on High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), and Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs), with a secondary emphasis on regulatory and policy issues shaping the energy transition. This is a remote position or may work out of any WSP US office supporting major transmission and grid‑modernization projects across the U.S. and internationally. The Senior Advisor will provide technical leadership on front‑end engineering design (FEED), specification development, tender evaluation, design review, factory acceptance testing, and commissioning support for HVDC, FACTS, and GETs projects. You will work directly with utilities, system operators, and project developers, offering strategic guidance to senior client leadership and helping advance their most critical initiatives. This is a highly visible, client‑facing role requiring exceptional communication skills, strong technical depth, and the ability to manage complex advisory engagements from concept through execution. Your Impact Key Responsibilities A. Technical Leadership • Lead or oversee FEED activities, technical specifications, tender evaluations, design reviews, and testing/commissioning support for HVDC, FACTS, and GETs projects. • Produce and review complex technical analyses, reports, and deliverables. • Conduct independent research and synthesize large datasets to support client decision‑making. • Serve as a technical specialist across multiple practice areas, providing guidance to project teams. • Support development of business cases, cost‑benefit analyses, and strategic recommendations. • Contribute to knowledge management and mentor junior advisors.
B. Client Advisory & Engagement
• Act as a trusted advisor to utilities, developers, and system operators. • Build strong relationships with senior client leadership through meetings, workshops, conferences, and site visits. • Support clients through key project milestones, including technology selection and early‑stage development. • Identify new clients and opportunities in coordination with EAS leadership and Directors.
