The following locations will be considered: Houston, San Antonio, Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, New Orleans, Tulsa, and Shreveport. The position is ideal for a senior professional who enjoys technical work, writing, research and supervising fieldwork. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Heritage and Cultural Resources Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges. This is a writing- and compliance-focused role (approximately 2/3 report writing & research, 1/3 field support), perfect for someone who prefers (and enjoys) thoughtful, detail-oriented work over full-time field supervision.

Your Impact • Manage heritage and cultural resources, preserving histories for the future. • Deliver quality cultural resource compliance for diverse clients. • Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other maps and tools to determine exact locations of project areas, site impact, and associated physical and archaeological sensitivities. • Prepare and assist with completing cultural resources survey reports, data entry, and impact assessment for assigned projects (e.g. CEQA, NEPA, etc.). • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, reporting, and record compliance and retention. • Provide risk identification and impact assessment, offering input with moderate to high-level threat mitigation and compliance activities to minimize or negate impacts to resources of cultural and scientific significance. • Assist with overseeing and working with cross-functional teams in executing project work. • Interact with regulatory and historical preservation agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are Required Qualifications • Master’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field. • 5+ years of relevant post-education experience in the context of Section 106/110 compliance. • 10+ years of experience in CRM archaeology, preferably in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, or Arkansas. • Qualify as a Principal Investigator on state and federal permits in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. • Understanding of regulatory framework for cultural resource management compliance. • Excellent technical writing and demonstrated experience contributing to technical reports, preparing cultural resources impact evaluations, siting reports, and environmental permit applications, including field surveys, peer review, and reporting. • Working knowledge and experience with State and Federal protection regulations, preservation guidelines, and consulting processes pertaining to the specific cultural resources position. • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. • Acted as a principal investigator overseeing state permitted projects in the last two years. • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience. • Ability to support business development initiatives. • Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. • Proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools. • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects. • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
