Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line  is seeking an Structural Engineering Intern to support water, wastewater treatment, flood protection, and associated projects in our Chelmsford, MA office. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within an established and successful national group under the direct responsible charge and supervision of Registered Professional Engineers that offers a diverse range of technical challenges and career development opportunities. Join our team while we continue to deliver innovative and successful projects and help the communities in which we live and work.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out structural engineering tasks associated with the technical design and layout of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD MEP, and/or Revit.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • ​​​​​​Currently enrolled in a college program working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related field from an ABET-accredited university.

    • Must have completed 2 years of study.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.

    • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and commercially available engineering analysis packages.

    • Demonstrated Experience in communication, teamwork, problem solving, and writing skills.

    • Coursework in Engineering Mathematics, Statics, and Engineering Design.

    Additional Information

    • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

    • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

    Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $25 to $28.
